Fly Fishing Montana
Since 1984
Private Water
Montana prides itself on stream access and there is so much public water and so few people that fishing public water options is often a better choice than private water because most large waterways with the best fishing are still public. There are times, especially when learning the sport, where it's best to get out of a boat and shrink down the big world of fly fishing to one pool at a time.
Montana's big rivers are often difficult to wade and many of the small, more wadeable streams flow through private ranch-land. Craig and Wade have developed relationships with landowners over the past thirty years that allow for some very unique fishing opportunities.
Beaverhead Ranch
One could spend an entire fishing season on the Beaverhead Ranch and feel like there were still techniques to perfect and fish to fool. The ranch boasts nearly three miles of water, including private access to the Beaverhead River, a meandering channel off the Beaverhead that fishes like a spring creek, and a twenty-acre lake with monstrous rainbow and brown trout.
Cattle Ranch Creek
We can't name all of our private waters in such a public forum but suffice to say this is one of those SW Montana hopper fisheries you dream about all year long and re-live again and again in your memory.
Meadow Creeks
These intimate arms of the Big Hole River are perfect places to test your abilities to read water, match the hatch, target trout, and play fish properly. If you spook a pool, there are only about a hundred other opportunities around the bend.
