Fishing access is limited and requires anglers to hike or jetboat into the river above Holter Lake where browns and rainbows average 20”+ and fish over 24” are not uncommon.
Your trip begins at the Gates of the Mountains Marina, 20 miles north of Helena Montana. Captain’ John Hall and Forrest Fawthrop will run you in jetboats across Holter Lake and up into the river where they’ll cut the engine, stick the oars out, and row you back through a breathtaking canyon and through the lair of monster trout.
Book this limited add-on opportunity early to ensure your spot on a truly unforgettable experience. Captains charge $850 per day plus gratuity and typically book a year out.
